POG2 Midi Module not working after installation - Jesse - 11-22-2020

Hello, I installed the midi module into my POG2 pedal. The midi in and out are working correctly. It is passing signal through to other midi enabled devices. However, the device is not responding when sent program changes. I have tried varying the midi channel with the dip switch, and I have tried alternating input and output cables. I used the midi config tool at http://midicongif.microdesignum.cz/ page to try and send program changes via my MIDISPORT Uno USB interface. I have also tried connecting the POG2 to my RJM Mastermind to send program changes via the Mastermind, but nothing works. It isn't responding.

Something of note: I did replace the preset selector knob recently. The knob was broken off when I purchased the POG2. It works fine for regular operation, so I don't suspect it is an issue. I can scroll through the presets by rotating the knob, and click the knob to select a preset. The replacement part appeared to be identical to the one that came out of the device.

Here are photos of the soldering, which appears to be correct and sufficient. I have tried re-soldering the connections a couple of times now, and nothing seems to be responding.

This is frustrating, since I drilled holes in my device. I would really like to get this working.

Dear Jesse,
it looks that all is soldered correctly. Did you try to send PROGRAM CHANGE on each of 16 channels?

MIDI OX can help you to test it. Click Send MIDI CC messages icon:

Then click Send all channels:

And then click on programs 1 - 8:

Does your POG2 respond on any channel?

Unfortunately, the instructions do not work. And it seems that my preset scrolling knob is no longer functioning either. I suspect there is a bad connection somewhere, or the settings stored in the module are somehow interfering with normal operation? I have no idea how the module interacts with the device, so that may not be plausible. Perhaps I will remove the preset scroll knob and see if resoldering it makes a difference.

The MIDI module works in parallel with the control knob and it has no impact on it. It should work even with the control knob removed.

Yeah, I’ve tried everything at this point. Is it possible that something is wrong with the module itself? What is your policy for replacing parts? I really want this to work, and I’m certain it is installed and tested correctly with no success.
